Who is real-life Rodney Alcala shown in Women of the Hour?

As per US media reports, Rodney Alcala made an appearance on a popular TV show at the time called The Dating Game. (Who is Rodney Alcala) Rodney Alcala was a San Antonio-born serial killer and sex offender who was sentenced to death in California for five murders committed between 1977 and 1979. Not only this, but Rodney Alcala  also pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 25 years to life for two further murders committed in New York and was also indicted for a murder in Wyoming, although charges were dropped due to a technicality. While he has been conclusively linked to eight murders, Alcala's true number of victims remains unknown and could be as high as 130, a report says. 

Rodney Alcala was so infamous that during the trial prosecutors revealed that Alcala "toyed" with his victims, strangling them until they lost consciousness, then waiting until they revived, sometimes repeating this process several times before finally killing them. 

Talking about Rodney Alcala's early life, when he was 17, he got enlisted in the Army but was discharged in 1964 following a nervous breakdown and allegations of sexual misconduct. Rodney Alcala's Education: He graduated in 1968 from the University of California, Los Angeles with a fine arts degree, but soon after his first attack, fled to New York University — where he attended a class with Roman Polanski under the alias "John Berger."

Talking about Rodney Alcala The Dating Game Show, he actually won a date with bachelorette Cheryl Bradshaw. At the time, Alcala had murdered five women, and his strange facade during the episode later nicknamed him "The Dating Game Killer".

What happened to Rodney Alcala?

Rodney Alcala died on July 24, 2021. (Rodney Alcala Death Reason) He died due of natural causes at age 77 while on death row in California.
