Team India allrounder & newly appointed skipper of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya on Monday broke his silence on captaining Rohit Sharma during IPL 2024. Mumbai Indians organised a press conference on Monday and it was attended by MI skipper Hardik Pandya and Head Coach Mark Boucher. The first question that was asked from Hardik that whether he would feel awkward captaining Rohit Sharma as he is a senior player and also Team India's skipper.
Replying to this, Hardik Pandya said, "It won't be awkward at all. Rohit Sharma is captain of the Indian team, which helps me, what this team has achieved, was achieved under his belt - I just carry forward, I played my whole career under him and I know, he will always have his hand on my shoulder."
Interestingly, when Hardik was asked whether he talked to Rohit Sharma after he was appointed as the skipper of Mumbai Indians, the allrounder said no. "Yes and No. He has been travelling non-stop," said Hardik adding that he will have a chat with Team India skipper as soon as he joins Mumbai Indians camp.
For the unversed, Indian Premier League 2024 will kickstart on March 22, 2024, with RCB locking horns with defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
