Radical Sikh preacher & jailed Khadoor Sahib MP, Amritpal Singh on Saturday distances himself from his mother's remarks on Khalistan. After Amritpal Singh was sworn in as Khadoor Sahib MP in parliament, festivities erupted in his hometown of Jallupur Khera in Amritsar. While talking to the media, Amritpal Singh's mother stated that her son is not a Khalistan supporter. Notably, Amritpal Singh rose to fame as Bhindrawale 2.0 and his mother saying that the Waris Punjab Chief is not a Khalistan supporter garnered attention. As a result, a statement on behalf of Amritpal Singh was posted on his official X account in Punjabi.
In his statement, Amritpal Singh distanced himself from his mother's comment saying that his heart was filled with sorrow when he came to know about this. Furthermore, Amritpal stated that he would not compromise on his demand for a Sikh state. Not only this, Amritpal Singh in his statement said that between Panth and family, he will always choose Panth and such kinds of comments should not be made by his family or by his followers.
Amritpal Singh's translated version reads, "..Today, when I came to know about the statement made by Mataji yesterday, my heart was very sad. Support should not come from him. Dreaming of a Khalsa state is not a crime, it is a matter of pride. We cannot even dream of backing down from the path for which millions of Sikhs have sacrificed their lives..."
Notably, Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, on Sunday, met jailed Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh's family after her mother's comments on Khalistan. After meeting Amritpal Singh's family, Giani Harpreet Singh while talking to the media said, "...In India, if someone has a different opinion, he is put in jail under NSA. The slogan 'Hindu Rashtra Zindabad' was raised in Parliament and people were felicitated. What is wrong when a Sikh youth talks about 'Sikh Rashtra'?..."
