The world annually celebrated the ‘World Environmental Health Day’ on September 26, 2021, to raise awareness about the health of our environment. Environmental Health is about the fact that how the environmental factors directly or indirectly affect human factors.
Some of the factors on which environmental health depends are:
- Clean and safe water
- Clear air
- Nutritious food
- Vitamins and minerals
- Protection from environmental factors such as extreme cold, rain and such
- Safe living spaces
- Protection against natural hazards

World Environmental Health Day 2021: Theme
The theme for this year’s World Environmental Health Day is – “Prioritizing Environmental Health for healthier communities in the global recovery.”
According to IFEH, “It is necessary to; accept; that; there is an integral connection between the environment, health and the economy. It is therefore important to invest in healthy and green recovery, close to all communities, with the support of the Environmental Health workforce and with collaboration from the International Federation of Environmental Health.”
World Environmental Health Day 2021: History
The day was decided and announced by the International Federation of Environmental Health (IFEH) in the year 2011. The health federation was founded in 1986 with its headquarters in London. The organization is a body of 44 member-nations.
For now, India isn’t a member of IFEH.
