Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on April 19. First of all, he will inaugurate the world's highest railway bridge (Chenab Bridge) in Udhampur. After this, he will reach Katra (Mata Vaishno Devi) and flag off the Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train.

This inauguration shall mark the completion of the 272-kilometer Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that currently repair work is going on at Jammu Railway Station, due to which train service is being started temporarily from Katra. After the completion of the repair work, this train will start running from Jammu in August.

The trial of the train on Katra-Srinagar was conducted on January 25, which was successful. The train left Katra at 8 am and reached Srinagar, the last station in Kashmir, at 11 am. That means the journey of 160 kilometers was completed in 3 hours. This will bring the travel between the two cities faster, more modern, and more efficient.

The 1997 project, which was completed last month, faced numerous challenges, including geological and topographical issues. However, trial runs on the Katra-Baramulla route have been successfully conducted, and the Commissioner of Railway Safety approved the service between Katra and Kashmir in January.

According to the sources, the height of the Statue of Unity is 182 meters and the height of the Eiffel Tower is 330 meters.

Comparatively, the Chenab Bridge, with a cost of Rs 1486 crore and steel of 29 thousand metric tons, will be three times more than the Eiffel Tower.

With concrete 46 thousand cubic meters, that means a life of 120 years; the Chenab Bridge can withstand a wind speed of 266 km/hour. The Northern Railways claimed that the trains will be able to run at a speed of 100 km per hour on the bridge.
