Sauntering is just a way of taking a slow walk. World Sauntering Day is celebrated to remind everyone to slow down for a day and take it easy. June 19 remembers us not to rush and give a special time to our body and mind.
The last two years are harsh for everybody, everyone is working from home because of the pandemic. But work from home mode does not mean that we have slowed down, most of us are still busy with our daily routines. Despite being home, we don’t even have time to pamper ourselves.
Slow walking and enjoying the surrounding is beneficial for everyone and especially during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic when the whole world is locked inside their houses.
Expert says that sometimes slowing down is good for physical and mental health.

2) Fewer muscle cramps: Sauntering is not only an enjoyable exercise but also helps in avoiding the chances of joint pain and muscle cramps. Muscle cramps occur after the overuse of a muscle, dehydration and muscle strain and they can be avoided by sauntering.
3) Easy to perform: It neither requires any tool, equipment nor any type of special technique. You don’t even need a special room or place. Sauntering can be performed in the corridor or a long passage would also work.

Sauntering is all about relaxation. You can celebrate it alone or with friends but do remember to wear a face mask and maintaining social distancing. This day gives you chance to roam freely and enjoy the nature around you. To celebrate World Sauntering Day you can go for a walk in the neighborhood park or you can saunter from your office to home, you can also go for a brisk walk during your lunch break.

Here are four simple steps you require to follow to enjoy sauntering:
- Firstly, stand straight and relax your body.
- Secondly, breathe normally and keep your eyes downwards.
- Thirdly, slow down your thoughts and try to calm down your mind.
- Last but not the least, walk like this for 25 to 30 minutes.
HISTORY of World Sauntering Day:
For the first time, World Sauntering Day was celebrated in the year 1979 in the United States of America. The Sauntering Day was the brainchild of publicist WT Rabe, in response to jogging and brisk walk. The main idea behind sauntering was to encourage and appreciate the world around us by slowing down.
