Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs are the most fascinating and always catch our attention. UFOs always increase the curiosity to know more about them and the ‘aliens.’ This ‘flying saucer’ of aliens never fails to ignite our imagination in the best possible way. 

Therefore, to acknowledge the existence of UFOs a special day is dedicated, which is observed on July 2 every year. On this day, awareness is created about extraterrestrial objects that fly around the earth. There is always a question in everyone’s mind – Even the UFOs actually exist?

The day is celebrated to provide tools, information and visuals to the people so that they count UFO and alien life as non-threatening and attractive. This year, the day would be celebrated virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  

What are UFOs:

According to the official website of World UFO Day, UFOs are extraterrestrial objects that are indentified and unidentified. The most general definition of a UFO is that it is a mysterious object seen in the sky for which there are no scientific explanations. 

HISTORY of the World UFO Day:

For the first time, UFO day was celebrated in the year 2001, it was the brainchild of a UFO researcher named Haktan Akdogan.

Initially, the day was celebrated twice a year, some of the countries celebrated it on June 24 and some countries observe it on July 2. Later, it was decided by the World UFO Day Organisation that the day would be celebrated only once a year to avoid confusion. 

The reason behind the two dates: On June 24, nine bizarre objects were observed by an aviator named Kenneth Arnold in Washington that can be touted as UFO in the 1990s. And on July 2 first UFO is supposed to crash in New Mexico in year 1947.

SIGNIFICANCE of World UFO Day:

As the name suggests, the day is significant in many ways. On this day, World UFO Day Organisation urges various governments, around the world, to acknowledge the fact that there is a possibility that UFOs exist.
