Women's Indian Premier League (WPL) Auction on Monday kickstarted with almost 440 players from around the world who are all set to go under the hammer. WPL Auction started with BCCI Chief Roger Binny delivering a speech and Mallika Sagar acting as chief auctioneer. WPL Auction started with marquee players list and the first woman to go under the scanner was Team India star batter Smriti Mandhana. As soon as Smriti Mandhana's name came up Mumbai Indians started the bidding war. However, it was Royal Challengers Bangalore, who won the bidding war. Smirit Mandhana was bought by the RCB at a whopping price of Rs 3.40 Crore. Smriti's base price was Rs 50 lakhs. After Smriti, Harmanpreet Kaur was sold to Mumbai Indians at Rs 1. 80 crore.

Key rules and talking points of the Women’s Premier League Auction 2023-
Each team can rope in a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18 players at the auction
Each team is allowed to buy a maximum of six overseas players at the auction
Each team will have a maximum purse of INR 12 crore
448 players feature in the final auction list for the WPL 2023
Out of the 448, 270 players are Indians
A total of 24 players feature in the list of players with the maximum base price of INR 50 lakhs
Out of the 24, 10 Indian players have a base price of INR 50 lakhs
