The central government, in a string of decisions against terror camps and separatist leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, has now banned the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front under the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act) here on Friday. The front is led by Yasin Malik.
The government has cited some unlawful activities of the organization intending the secession of Jammu and Kashmir from India as the main reason for the ban.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front chief Yasin Malik is currently under arrest in Kot Balwal jail of Jammu.
Becoming the second organization in J&K to be banned by Indian government after the deadly Pulwama Attack, the JKLF has expressed their anger writing to the UN human rights commission at Geneva.
“Booking Yasin Malik under Public Safety Act (PSA), shifting him to Kot-Balwal Jail and putting him in solitary confinement has raised many questions about the intentions of the government,” said the spokesman of JKLF (Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front).
“Earlier, JKLF diplomatic head Professor Zaffar Khan led delegation held a meeting with United Kingdom Foreign office in London. Another delegation led by zonal president EU Choudhary Tanveer held a meeting with United Nations Human rights (UNHR) officials in Geneva while as president UK zone Sabir-Gul led a protest outside Indian high commission in London against slapping PSA on JKLF chairman and treatment being meted out to him and others in jails and interrogation centers,” the spokesman said.
