As compared to 39 cases of chain snatching registered in 2018 only nine cases were reported this year. Similarly against 101 cases of mobile phone snatching registered in 2018 only 33 were registered this year. Total 169 cases of cash/ purse snatching were registered in 2018 which fell to 36 this year and only six cases of vehicle snatching were filed this year as compared to seven in 2018

Upholding its commitment to serve the people diligently, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar Police achieved new milestones, both quantitatively and qualitatively, during the year 2020.

The year brought a new and unprecedented challenge for Jalandhar Commissionerate Police as apart from the general law and order issues, the district Police had to deal with an invisible enemy in form of Covid 19- the global pandemic. But led by Mr. Bhullar the cops ensured the safety and security of people both from the Corona Virus and from the anti-social elements too. The Khaki uniform, which always reminds us of the unparalleled sacrifices and heroic deeds of several valiant police and paramilitary personnel across the country who laid down their lives at the altar of their motherland, remained in the frontline to serve the people during Corona crisis. At a time when the entire globe was facing a new challenge in form of the Pandemic Covid 19, the Police force embraced the new responsibility with full pride and combated it for saving the people from the scourge of this pandemic.

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police remained on forefront to implement the lockdown in full letter and spirit to save the precious lives of people, by putting their own lives along with that of their family in peril. During scorching heat, incessant rains and now in spine chilling cold the cops successfully implemented the curfew and night curfew to save the lives of people. The Commissionerate Police set a major benchmark of humane Policing during the curfew/ lockdown by rendering services diligently, honestly and a highly professional manner. The Commissioner of Police, who himself remained in field from early morning to late night, ensured that the Cops performed their duty in an exemplary manner by giving a humane touch to it to save the lives of people.

Besides upholding the glorious tradition of Police in serving the people with utmost zeal and dedication, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police went extra mile for giving a healing touch to the people during the lockdown/ curfew imposed to keep the Covid 19 pandemic. The role of Cops was not only confined to maintenance of law and order or strict implementation of the lockdown but as a fact of matter the Police was doing multitasking duty during this hour of crisis. The Police donned the cap of santa clause to help the people in this hour of grave crisis.

From providing medicines, grocery, milk and other things to needy people to celebrating the birthday of kids, who were stuck in lockdown and then ensuring medical aid to people in their own vehicles, the Police did everything to serve the people.  The humane Policing done by Jalandhar Commissionerate Police during this hour of crisis not only strengthened the faith of people in working of Punjab Police but also ensured that people were extremely benefitted by it. 

The Cops apart from rendering their regular duty of maintaining law and order did an exceptional service by making the people about the precautions to be taken during the pandemic. They encouraged the people to wear masks, wash their hands with soap or sanitize them and maintain social distancing to keep the disease at bay. Not only confining to this the Cops also left no stone unturned for arranging the food and dry ration for the needy people who were not able to get food.

Wherever required the Commissioner of Police also roped in the services of the philanthropists and other willing persons to extend a helping hand to the families in need.  Upholding the glorious tradition of the Punjab Police to serve the people zealously, the Commissionerate Police pulled all the plugs to help the people in this hour of grave crisis. The helpful nature, honesty and earnestness of this Jalandhar Commissioner Police has further enhanced the prestige of Punjab Police in the eyes of general public who have expressed their gratitude for the force time and again.

On law and order side the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police witnessed a steep fall in the snatching cases in compare to last two years. As compared to 39 cases of chain snatching registered in 2018 only nine cases were reported this year. Similarly against 101 cases of mobile phone snatching registered in 2018 only 33 were registered this year. Total 169 cases of cash/ purse snatching were registered in 2018 which fell to 36 this year and only six cases of vehicle snatching were filed this year as compared to seven in 2018. The Commissionerate Police was able to solve 73% of total case registered this year, which was only 41% in 2018.

In a major action against illegal liquor in its jurisdiction, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police also registered 679 cases under the Excise Act by arresting 754 accused and seizing 63,750 ml of illicit liquor, 2.70 lakh ml of licit liquor, 1.90 crore ml English wine and 1448 kilograms of Lahan. The Commissionerate Police also registered 3841 cases under various sections of Indian Penal Code against people indulging in hurt, kidnapping, abduction, rape, burglary, theft, snatching , robbery , fraud and others.
