In a horrific development, a 9-year-old boy named Aarav from the slum area of Guru Nanakpura West sustained severe burns after coming in contact with a 66 kV power line while playing in a park. The horrific incident was caught on CCTV installed in the park. As per the information received. Aarav, a third-grade student was playing in the park with other children around 4 pm.
During that, he tied a stone to a rope and threw it upwards. It accidentally hit the high-voltage power line. This resulted in a powerful explosion, causing Aarav to catch fire due to the electric current. As per reports, Aarav is hospitalised and is in critical condition. Doctors at the Civil Hospital in Jalandhar referred him to Amritsar for advanced treatment. Hari Singh, Aarav's grandfather, recounted the incident and said, "Aarav was playing in the park when he threw a plastic-like object upwards. Suddenly, he was struck by electricity. We immediately rushed him to the Civil Hospital, but he had to be referred to Amritsar."
The CCTV footage shows nearby youths running away in panic at the time of the explosion. However, they returned moments later to help Aarav. Notably, Powercom authorities were unaware of the incident, and the electricity supply remained uninterrupted.
