Punjab is all set to experience weather changes between 27 to 29 December. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, warning of rain and strong winds in the state. Certain areas may also witness hailstorms during this period.

Currently, the daytime temperature is around 21 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures hover near 7 degrees Celsius. However, temperatures are expected to drop further following the rainfall. This will lead to an increase in cold waves.

Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Head of the Weather Department at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, has stated that while hailstorms might occur in some areas, the rain will largely benefit crops and cause no damage. She also mentioned that strong winds are typical during cloudy weather and that the rain would have an overall positive impact on agriculture.

Before this, the weather department had issued a yellow alert for cold wave in a total of 18 districts till 24th December. According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance was formed in the Himalayan region due to which the temperature further dropped.
