Bollywood actress & controversial model Poonam Pandey on Saturday came out publically after faking her death due to cervical cancer. Poonam Pandey took to her Instagram handle and issued an apology to her fans and followers for faking her demise. However, Poonam justified her bizarre tactics by saying that she did it just to spread awareness of Cervical Cancer on World Cancer Day i.e. on February 4, 2024. Below is what Poonam Pandey said-
"Hi! Everyone. It's Poonam. I am sorry I have caused this tear, I am sorry to those whom I have caused hurt. My intention is to shock everyone into the conversation that we are not talking enough about which is Cervical Cancer. Yes! I faked my demise. Extreme, I know. But suddenly we are all talking about Cervical Cancer. It's a disease that silently takes you life. This disease needed the spotlight. I am proud of what my death news has been able to achieve. For those who have questions for me, I will see you live on Hauterrfly."
While Poonam clarified that she faked her death to spread awareness of Cervical Cancer, the publicity stunt did not go down well with fans. A user wrote, "Good Message, Cheap Execution"
Another user wrote, "Exploiting a serious issue like cervical cancer for cheap publicity is absolutely disgraceful. Using your platform to spread awareness is commendable, but faking your own death is a new low. Respect for real survivors and victims matters more than attention-seeking stunts."
One more user wrote, "There are some lines which one should not cross but with this stunt you just did that, no one took you seriously before now your whole existence will be a joke!! There are better ways to get recognition or publicity but this was just sad. You need to surround yourself with better brains."
