Jalandhar, January 22- Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Friday participated in the full dress rehearsal to mark the Republic Day celebrations in the local Guru Gobind Singh Stadium.
During the full dress rehearsal, the Deputy Commissioner unfurled the national flag and took a salute from the impressive march past led by parade commander young IPS officer Jyoti Yadav.
The Deputy Commissioner gave the necessary directions to the forces and the officers regarding the fool-proof preparations for the mega event in which Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Aruna Chaudhary would unfurl the national tri-color.
Thori reiterated the firm commitment of the administration to observe this mega event in an unprecedented manner.
He said that the preparations for this mega event were going on in full swing and every effort would be made to make sure that auspicious day was celebrated with full patriotic and nationalistic fervor.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the officers have been assigned duties regarding the event and any sort of callousness in this duty was unwarranted and undesirable.
He stated that this time the district level 72nd Republic Day function this year would be a low key affair in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. He said that as per the government's guidelines this time gathering would be limited and the function would be kept simple.
On the occasion, DCP Arun Saini, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Rahul Sindhu, Dr. Jai Inder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh, and others were present.
