Akshay Kumar had served a Rs 500-crore defamation suit against a YouTuber named Rashid Siddiqui, who brought up his name in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Siddiqui was earlier arrested for spreading fake news and dragging the name of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son, minister Aditya Thackeray, in the case.
Now, the Bihar based YouTuber has filed his reply in the court against the defamation case. Going by the reports of Bar and Bench, in the court, Rashid claimed that the information he shared was already out on the news and he placed his reliance on news channels as sources. Adding to it he also said that the notice was sent after a delay of 3 months, considering the allegations about harm to Akshay Kumar's reputation.
Rashid's lawyer said, "Your client (Kumar) faced severe backlash after interviewing an influential politician whereby thousands of personal remarks were made against your client, but he did not take any action against them and selectively chose to take action against my client (Siddiqee)."

Rashid's lawyer was referring to Akshay's interview with PM Modi after which he was widely criticized by the opposition parties of India and even by a particular section of people.
Ultimately, Akshay was requested to withdraw his notice failing which legal proceedings would be initiated by Siddiqee.
In his video, the Youtuber had claimed that Akshay on several occasions in his videos and levelled various allegations. In one instance, Siddiqui claimed that Akshay was unhappy with Sushant getting big films like "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story", and alleged that the actor had "secret meetings" with Aditya Thackeray and the Mumbai Police.
