Team India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has announced his retirement from international cricket. He has given this information by posting a note on his social media. Yusuf played 57 ODIs and 22 T20 matches for India and was also a part of Team India in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup. Yusuf was out of Team India for the last several years and in the IPL, no franchise was interested in joining him in the team.
Sharing his retirement note, Yusuf wrote, "I thank my family, friends, fans, teams, coaches and the whole country wholeheartedly for all the support and love."
Yusuf has been part of the world cup winning squad of team India twice i.e. first in the T20 world cup and second when India won the ICC Cricket World Cup (50 overs). In his long retirement note, Yusuf has thanked everyone who has been part of his life personally or professionally.
The former Indian team all-rounder also highlighted what have the best moments of his cricketing career. Yusuf said that winning two world cups and lifting Sachin Tendulkar has been the greatest moments of his life. Yusuf wrote, "Winning two World Cups for India and lifting Sachin Tendulkar on my shoulders were some of the best moments of my career. I made my international debut under MS Dhoni, IPL debut under Shane Warne, Ranji debut under Jacob Martin and would like to thank them for believing in me. I thank Gautam Gambhir with whom, at KKR, we won the IPL trophy twice. I would also like to thank my brother and backbone Irfan Pathan who was always there for me during the highs and lows of my career. Last but not the least, I would like to thank the BCCI & BCA for giving me the opportunity to play for my country and state."
