Ludhiana: DC inagurates Assistant Beauty Therapist course for inmates of Women Jail

Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood (SANKALP) is an outcome-oriented programme of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with a special focus on decentralised planning and quality improvement.

Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik today inaugurated a Assistant Beauty Therapist Course for inmates of Women Jail Ludhiana. This course has been started under Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) by District Administration Ludhiana. In the first batch, 30 women would be imparted this training.

She was also accompanied by ADC (Rural Development) Amit Kumar Panchal, AMD PSDM Rajesh Tripathi, CEO, VCO EduSkills Pvt. Ltd. Maneet Dewan, Director, VCO EduSkills Pvt. Ltd. DS Sekhon, Rahul Raja, Superintendent Jail, Chanchal Kumari, Deputy Superintendent Jail, besides several others.

This course has been launched under Sankalp Scheme of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. She also distributed Books and Induction Kit to Jail inmates undergoing course of Assistant Beauty Therapist. 

During her address, the Deputy Commissioner encouraged the jail inmates to start their new life with this initiative of Punjab Skill Development Mission. She encouraged the Jail Inmates to learn the skills with full dedication and start a new life after completion of their imprisonment.

This training program is of 390 hours and daily 4 hours training is being imparted. Practical Lab for the same is established in the premises of Jail. After the completion of training, assessment will be conducted by third party assessment body. Candidates who successful pass the assessment will be given Certificate and Rs. 2500 in their bank accounts by Government.


Punjab Skill Development Mission through its Training Partner VCO EduSkills Pvt. Ltd. is conducting skill development courses at various jails in the state of Punjab i.e. Faridkot, Ferozepur, Bathinda, Amritsar etc.
