India has defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in the women’s world Cup on Sunday in New Zealand. India batting first put on a score of 244 on board courtesy a century partnership between Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana. Pooja played a superb innings of 67 runs from 59 balls hitting 8 boundaries in a crucial time to keep India in the game.
Pooja has now became a prominent Indian All-rounder, but there was a time when she was facing a lot of problems in order to continue her game. Young Pooja had not had much training facilities as she came from an ordinary backward area in Madya Pradesh’s Shahdool. But Pooja kept going , irrespective of the all the setbacks.
Pooja was playing her game, when coach Ashutosh Shrivastava found her talent, that’s when her luck took turn. Pooja started taking coaching from Ashutosh. Poooja was interested in both batting and bowling , so the coach decided to turn her into an all- rounder, so coached her for both. Pooja is one of the main all-rounders of Indian team now.
Pooja's knock came at the time when India’s middle order had returned to dug out very cheaply. Pooja alongside Sneh Rana, build a strong partnership of century plus runs to take India of a respected score of 244 runs.
In reply to India’s batting, arch- rivals Pakistan were bundled out for 137 runs, giving Indian a comfortable 107 runs win in their world Cup opener.
