Stroopwafel: This Dutch symbol has gone global in recent years, and it's even available in my neighbourhood Starbucks!
Herring: Dutch herring is sold raw, but it has been fully frozen and then semi-cured in salt before being aged for a few days in oak.
Cod: Salt cod is well-known throughout the world (especially in Spain!) and is no exception in the Netherlands.
Poffertjes: These fluffy and delicious mini Dutch pancakes are topped with sweet sugar syrup.
Mint Tea: In Amsterdam, it's common to order a hot infusion of fresh mint instead of tea. It may appear simple, but it is extremely relaxing
Satay: It is unquestionably a staple of local Dutch cuisine! Indonesian restaurants and take-out counters are widely available throughout Amsterdam.
Oorlog French Fries: a crispy cone filled with hot homemade fries and topped with mayonnaise, peanut sauce, and raw onion.
Chutney: We topped empanadas with various chutneys (both sweet and spicy), and they were delicious.
Dutch Cheese: Gouda and Edam are the most popular cheeses in Holland.
