18-year-old, Iam Tongi, on Sunday won American Idol Season 21 defeating Megan Danielle and Colin Stough
Iam Tongi is natively from Kahuka, Hawaii, which is located on the island of Oahu. He settled in Seattle 3 years back due to economic hardship in the Islands.
Throughout the course of the American Idol season, Tongi impressed judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie with his performances, which included several tributes to his father, Rodney.
Iam’s father, Rodney, died a few months before his audition. During his American Idol 21 audition, he got the golden ticket which he dedicated to his late father
Notably, Iam auditioned once before with his father by his side but was not selected for the next round.
Iam is currently a senior in high school. He attends Decatur High School, which is located in Federal Way, Washington.
