The Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air ranked 254 cities of India according to their pollution levels in January.
Delhi: The national Capital, New Delhi, was ranked as the most polluted in Jan, with an avg. AQI (Air Quality Index) of 354.
The average PM 2.5 (Particulate Matter) concentration was 206 micrograms (μg) per cubic metre
It surpassed the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) each day of the month of January which is 60 μg.
WHO says: Not only this, WHO states the safe amount of NAAQS 15 μg per cubic metre.
Bhagalpur 2nd: Bhagalpur came close to Delhi as the second most polluted city this January.
Other cities on the list included Saharsa, Greater Noida, Hanumangarh, Noida, Baddi, Sri Ganganagar and Faridabad.
