YouTuber Ankur Warikoo who has described himself as a 'serial entrepreneur' recently outled the benefits of being a social media influencer in today's time. Ankur Warikoo also predicted that a social media influencer's earnings will increase in the next 10 years. Ankur Warikoo is also a motivator and author by profession who has written books like- Do Epic Sh*t (2021), Get Epic Sh*t Done (2022) and Make Epic Money (2024).
Ankur Warikoo recently appeared in Ranveer Allahbadia's Podcast on YouTube where he outlined a 'strange reality' in today's time. Ankur Warikoo revealed that sometimes a social media influencer more money to make a reel than a Brain Surgeon gets to do a surgery. Below is an excerpt from the podcast-
'Social media earnings will increase in the next 10 years'
During the podcast, Ankur on the possibility of an increase in earnings of a social media influencer said, "The earnings will increase in the next 10 years. It is an attention economy. Always think about where value will be added. Things that are impossible to achieve are the only ones that add value. During our parent's generation, getting attention was easy because there were very less distractions. Therefore, advertisers used to think it was fine to pay whatever money to Doordarshan they wanted, as there were no other options for them or for viewers. "
Now, everyone has many options to devote their attention or spend time. Therefore, where there is an attention-gathering mechanism, advertisers will put their money there, because they know distractions are the biggest enemy of the advertisers. Wherever they will get attention, they will earn money. Suppose you have created a distribution where you have the attention of the people, that's it. The platform will not matter. The money will go there."
"I sometimes feel we get more money just to make a reel than the average salary of a brain surgeon. I feel like what type of world is this? But, then I feel the world is shifting towards attention. Attention is lacking in this world. Then, if you will gather attention, you will earn money from that," added Ankur.
