On January 20th, President Donald Trump took oath as the 47th President of America. Following this, he made many big announcements and took many rapid decisions.
One of his decisions was to send the illegal immigrants back to their countries. With this, now the work of sending them back has already begun. Yesterday, a US military aircraft carrying Indian immigrants left for Amritsar from San Antonio. The C-17 aircraft will land at Amritsar airport today.
Out of 205 Indians deported from America, 104 will come to Amritsar airport. A total of 104 Indian nationals deported from the United States are scheduled to arrive at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar today.
The deportees are being transported by a US military C-17 aircraft, marking a significant operation in the ongoing enforcement of U.S. immigration policies.

The Punjab government has announced preparations to receive the deportees. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the state will “receive our immigrants and set up counters for them” at the airport. He emphasized that the government is in touch with central authorities to ensure a smooth process upon arrival.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Punjab’s Minister for NRI Affairs, expressed disappointment over the deportations, noting that many of these individuals had contributed to the U.S. economy and should have been granted permanent residency instead of being sent back. He plans to meet with India’s External Affairs Minister to discuss the concerns of Punjabis living abroad.
This deportation aligns with the U.S. administration’s intensified efforts to enforce immigration laws. A spokesperson from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi stated, “The United States is vigorously enforcing its border, tightening immigration laws, and removing illegal migrants. These actions send a clear message: illegal migration is not worth the risk.”
Following their arrival, the deportees will undergo thorough immigration procedures. In this process, authorities will verify their records, and individuals with any criminal history will be subject to appropriate legal action. The Punjab government has assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate the returnees and address any arising issues.
Additionally, families and well-wishers have also gathered at the airport, and are waiting for the arrival of their loved ones. Security measures have been increased in order to manage the crowd and ensure a smooth process.
This event highlights the complexities of global migration and the challenges faced by people seeking better opportunities abroad.
