After being approved by the Central Government, the initial phases of Amritsar-Delhi Bullet Train project has started with land acquisition survey in both Haryana and Punjab. Courtesy of the Amritsar-Delhi Bullet Train Project, people of Punjab will now be able to travel to Delhi or vice-versa in just 2 hours.
Bullet train will run on Delhi-Amritsar route, due to which the 465 km journey from Delhi to Amritsar will be completed in just 2 hours. As per reports, the survey work for this high speed rail line is going on at a large scale in the state. The central government will acquire land from a total of 186 villages in Punjab.
It includes 39 villages of Mohali, 49 of Jalandhar, 37 of Ludhiana, 22 of Amritsar, 25 of Fatehgarh Sahib, 12 of Kapurthala and one each of Tarn Taran and Rupnagar district. For this, a series of meetings is going on by IIMR agency with the farmers of the village. Farmers will be given 5 times the amount of collector rate of each village for the land.
The maximum speed of the bullet train is 350 kilometers per hour. Its running speed will be 320 kilometers per hour in India with the average speed will be 250 kilometers per hour. About 750 passengers will be able to travel in this train.
Punjab Bullet Train Routes
As per reports, in Punjab, the train will make scheduled stops at Kaithal, Jind, Ambala, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar. Initially, a survey explored a Bahadurgarh route, covering Delhi to Jhajjar, Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, and Ambala districts.
The Amritsar-Delhi bullet train prject is in nescant stage. Hence, as of now there is no exact timeline can be determined. However, reports suggest that India's first bullet train, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor, is expected to begin operations in 2026. Therefore, Amritsar-Delhi Bullet Train Project may go under construction phase after 2026. It's completion may take years as well.
