Bengaluru-based Ather Energy has launched its flagship electric scooter, ‘450 Apex,’ claiming it as the world’s first electric scooter with a transparent body. Priced at ₹1.89 lakhs (ex-showroom), bookings started on December 19th with a token amount of ₹2,500. The scooter comes with a 5-year/60,000km battery warranty.
The limited edition of the 450X variant, available only in Indium Blue color, features transparent side body panels. It supports the transparent body over a dashin orange chasis, further establishing Ather’s clean aesthetic design. Ather Energy’s co-founder, Tarun Mehta, stated that production would be based on demand until October 2024, with deliveries starting in March 2024. The scooter boasts a 7.0 kW electric motor, offering superior performance and a unique riding experience.
The 450 Apex is set to outperform the traditional 125CC ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) scooters and achieves 0-40 kmph in just 2.9 seconds. It provides a range of 157 km on a full charge, with a battery that can be charged from 0-80% in 6 hours and 36 minutes at home. The scooter also features regenerative braking with the ‘Magic Twist’. It allows for up to 7% additional range. Advanced features include hill-hold assist, park assist, GPS navigation, ride modes, Bluetooth connectivity, and live tracking.
