September Holiday Calendar 2024: Banks to remain closed for 15 days, check the full list

Indian Banks to remain closed for 15 days in different states of the country in September 2024. Essential services can still be received through online platforms, ATMs, mobile banking applications, and bank websites.

Indian banks have observed plenty of holidays this year including national holidays, state-specific festivals, and significant observances. According to the holiday list released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 15 days in different states of India in September. These holidays include the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays as well.

The RBI has released the holiday list in order to ensure that the customers do not face any inconvenience as this list will help them in planning their banking tasks accordingly.

The Reserve Bank of India is the regulatory body that is responsible for the regulation of the Indian banking system. It has the authority to determine all the bank holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act, Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) holidays, and bank account closure restrictions that are applicable for both public and private banks all across the country.

Banks are going to remain shut on the occasion of Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva, Ganesh Chaturthi, First Onam, Milad-un-Nabi or Id-e Milad, Indrajatra/Id-e-Milad, Pang-Lhabsol, Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day, Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.

Although, on these holidays, no physical banking services will be available for the customers but the banks customers can use the internet banking, SMS banking, WhatsApp banking services for their financial and non-financial transactions.

  • September 1st (Sunday)- Banks closed all across the country
  • September 4th (Wednesday)- Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva- Banks are closed in Assam.
  • September 7th (Saturday)- Ganesh Chaturthi/- banks are closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Goa on Ganesh Chaturthi.
  • September 8th (Sunday)- Banks closed all across the country
  • September 14th Second Saturday-Karma Puja/First Onam- Banks are closed all over the country.
  • September 15th (Sunday)- Banks closed all across the country.
  • September 16th (Monday)- Id-e Mila- Banks are closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Jammu, Kerala, Uttara Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand.
  • September 17th (Tuesday) Indrajatra/Id-e-Milad (Milad-Un-Nabi) - Banks are closed in Sikkim, Chhattisgarh.
  • September 18th (Wednesday) - Pang-Lhabsol- Banks are closed in Sikkim.
  • September 20th (Friday) Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi- Banks closed in Jammu and Srinagar.
  • September 21th (Saturday)- Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day- Banks are closed in Kerala.
  • September 22th (Sunday)- Banks closed all across the country.
  • September 23th (Monday)- Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji- Banks are closed in Jammu and Srinagar.
  • September 28th (Saturday)- Fourth Saturday- Banks closed all across the country.
  • September 29th (Sunday)- Banks closed all across the country.
