The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set for a landslide victory in the Punjab Byelections 2024. The counting of votes is currently underway of the 3 out of 4 constituencies that underwent polls for the Punjab Byelections. The constituencies that underwent the polls are- Dera Baba Nanak, Gidderbha, Chabbewal, and Barnala.
Since the counting of votes started at 8 am, the fate of Punjab Byelections 2024 has started to become clearer. As per the Election Commission of India's Early Trends, AAP is all set for a landslide victory sweeping 3 out of 4 constituencies. AAP is all set to win Dera Baba Nanak, Gidderbha, and Chabbewal. As per ECI, AAP candidate Gurdeep Singh Randhawa is leading with 4946 votes in Dera Baba Nanak, AAP's Dr. Ishank Kumar is leading with 28690 votes in Chabbewal, Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon is leading with 11513 votes in Gidderbha.
With ECI's early trend predicting AAP's landslide victory, a wave of happiness among the AAP workers was seen. As per the information received, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab AAP chief Aman Arora can reach Delhi by evening. AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann can address the workers from the AAP National Office.
Why is AAP dominating Punjab Byelections 2024?
One of the major reasons why AAP is all set for a landslide victory in Punjab by-election is because of the duo Bhagwant Mann & Arvind Kejriwal. AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal actively participated in campaigning for the party in all four constituencies. Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann also participated in rallies in the constituencies for the past 15 days.
Arvind Kejriwal during his Punjab byelection campaign also met many influential people. For instance, Dera Baba Nanak is said to be a bastion of the Congress party. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was the MLA from Dera Baba Nanak. Randhawa became an MP from Gurdaspur during the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 hence, the constituency had no MLA. Sukhjinder Randhawa had fielded his wife Jatinder Kaur Randhawa. Hence, AAP made a major push to woo the voters and as a result, it broke the Congress stronghold. To win the Dera Baba Nanak constituency, CM Mann and Arvind Kejriwal personally addressed rallies and met many influential people to get their support.
Similarly, Gidderbha is said to be a traditional seat of the Congress and Akali Dal. Last time, Punjab Congress Chief Raja Warring won the election from Gidderbha. However, after winning the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Ludhiana, Raja Warring fielded his wife Amrita Warring from Gidderbha. However, Mann fielded Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon who fought elections from Akali Dal last time against Amrita Warring. Ultimately, Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon is all set to defeat Punjab Congress President Raja Warring's wife Amrita from Gidderbha.
Chabbewal is said to be in Dalit-belt Doaba. Going by ECI's early trend, AAP's biggest victory in terms of margin is said to be in Chabbewal.
