Below is all you need to know-
Black Warrant Real Story
Black Warrant is a real story based on the Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer, written by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury. While Sunetra is a journalist, Sunil Gupta was a real-life former law officer at Tihar Jail. At the start, the makers clarified that the series has been dramatised for entertainment purposes.
Black Warrant Episode 1 is called 'Saanp' (Snake in English). Black Warrant Episode 1 showcases how Sunil Kumar Gupta cleared the interview to be ACP of Delhi's Tihar Jail where India's most notorious gangsters and serial killers have been lodged.
Black Warrant Real Snake Story
Sunil Kumar Gupta played by Zahan Kapoor gets his first assignment on day 1 of his duty in Tihar. Sunil Gupta is not the only person who has been recruited for Tihar Jail. Apart from Gupta, two other officers named Dahiya from Haryana played by Anurag Thakur, and Mangat from Punjab played by Parmvir Singh Cheema. All three upstart jailers are mentored by DSP Tomar played by Rahul Bhat.
Sunil Kumar Gupta's day 1 at Tihar jail starts with two prisoners fighting together. The prisoners fought in the Tihar Jail over killing a snake. While Tyagi Gang's Neela claims that he has killed the snake in Tihar Jail, another man named Sarju lodged on pickpocketing charge and claims that he has killed the snake.
As informed by DSP Tomar to jailor Gupta, the reward for killing a snake in Tihar will decrease by 15 days from your sentence. While neither of the prisoners was willing to tell the truth, Gupta was asked to find out who killed the snake since he interrupted DSP Tomar in front of the prisoners. (Spoilers Ahead)
Who killed the snake?
When Sunil Kumar Gupta is not able to find out who killed the snake, he goes to Charles Sobhraj for help. Charles expresses his displeasure over Sunil Kumar Gupta for not thanking him as he helped him to get a job in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
In the end, it was established by DSP Tomar forcefully that it was Neela of the Tyagi gang who killed the snake. However, it was without any evidence.
Talking about reducing sentences from jail, True Scoop could not find any formal rule that says that 15 days can be reduced from a prisoner's sentence if he or she kills a snake. However, there are provisions that a prisoner's jail time can be reduced over good behaviour.
For example, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was recognized for his good behavior while in jail and was released early. Dutt was serving his sentence in Yerawada Central Prison in Pune for illegal possession and destruction of an AK-56 rifle.
