Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday announced Budget 2025. Sitharaman tabled her 8th Budget and first under Modi 3.0 in the Lok Sabha at 11 am. Although Sitharaman started her Budget 2025 live presentation with the agriculture sector, she also made key announcements in Skilling and Higher Education. Sitharaman announced that the government will increase seats in Medical colleges and hospitals. Furthermore, the Finance Minister announced that the IITs established after 2014 will also be expanded including IIT Patna.

- 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs to be set up in Government schools in next 5 years
- Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme to be implemented to provide digital-form Indian language books for school and higher education
- Day Care Cancer Centres to be set up in all district hospitals in next 3 years; 200 Centres in FY 2025-26
- Five National Centres of Excellence for skillingto be set up with global expertise and partnerships to equip youth with skills required for “Make for India, Make for the World” manufacturing
- Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Education to be set up with an outlay of ₹ 500 crore
- 10,000 additional seats to be added in medical colleges and hospitals in next year
- Additional Infra for 5 IITs, 5000 New Seats
- Patna IIT Hostels To Be Enhanced
- 10,000 fellowships to be provided under the PM Research Fellowship scheme in next five years, for technological research in IITs and IISc
