A potential bullet train route connecting Delhi and Amritsar has been revealed, bringing good news for residents of Punjab. The project which promises to revolutionise travel in the region is progressing with large-scale survey work and discussions with farmers for land underway.
As per reports, the bullet train will traverse key cities including Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, Sonipat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar, before reaching Amritsar. The bullet train is expected to stop at a total of 15 stations along its route. Designed to accommodate up to 750 passengers per trip the high-speed rail will cover a 450 km journey between Delhi and Amritsar in under two hours for travelers and traders alike.
This great initiative will reduce the 8-10 hours of tiring distance journey to just 2 hours of happy journey. This shall prove to be a great opportunity for the youth of Punjab to connect themselves to the country's capital and prove their potential.
The project requires land from 343 villages along the proposed route with 22 villages 135 in Haryana and 186 in Punjab, identified for the purpose. To ensure fair compensation affected farmers will receive five times the collector rate for their land.
This ambitious initiative aims to bolster trade and transform the travel experience between the two regions making a new chapter in Punjab’s infrastructure development.
