The answer is no. Chamak - The Conclusion is the extension of Chamak Season 1 on Sony Liv. Chamak is a fictional story that follows the story of Kaala, a rising Punjabi singer & rapper who is fleeing a criminal past in Canada. Kaala portrayed by Paramvir Singh Cheema is the son of Gippy Grewal who plays the character of legendary singer Taara Singh. Notably, Kaala wants to unravel the truth of his father Taara Singh's murder and hence he heads to Punjab to not only enhance his Punjabi singing career but also to find out the truth about his father's murder.
Is Kaala based on a real-life Punjabi singer-rapper?
Since the story is fictional, the character of Kaala is also fictional and not based on any particular Punjabi singer. However, the murder of Taara Singh played by Gippy Grewal resembles to that of legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Notably, the character is not based on Chamkila. Interestingly, Amar Singh Chamkila's son is Jaiman Chamkila who is also a Punjabi singer. Jaiman came in the spotlight when Diljit Dosanjh starrer Amar Singh Chamkila was released on Netflix.
