In a major update on the Chandigarh Grenade Attack case that took place on Wednesday, a terror group has taken responsibility. As per reports, Babbar Khalsa International has taken responsibility for the grenade attack on a house in the posh area of Sector 10 in Chandigarh. A post has been uploaded on the social media account of Harpreet Singh alias Happy Pasiya, in which along with taking responsibility for this attack, a mention has also been made of the 1986 incident in Nakodar, Jalandhar. In this post going viral on social media, it is written, 'This blast is in memory of those killed in 1986.' Along with this, the photos of those killed in the blast have also been released in the post, calling them martyrs.
At the same time, a video has also surfaced in this case, in which 2 suspicious youths are seen. This video is said to be near the bus stand of Sector 43. The police have started searching for these two youths.
For the unversed. a police firing took place on February 2, 1986, in the Gurdwara Guru Arjan Dev Jee in Jalandhar district in Nakodar during the Akali government. Four Sikh youths—Ravinder Singh Littran, Baldhir Singh Ramgarh, Jhilman Singh Gorsian, and Harminder Singh Chalupar were reportedly shot by the police during a protest against the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib. Izhar Alam was Jalandhar SSP then, while Guru was additional deputy commissioner (ADC) and was officiating as deputy commissioner.
On Wednesday, a grenade attack took place on the house of a former Punjab Police officer in a posh locality in Chandigarh by miscreants who came in an auto-rickshaw. The explosion shattered the window panes of the house located in the upscale Sector 10 area of the city, though no one was injured in the incident.
