Cold wave alert issued in 18 districts of Punjab including Chandigarh

The effect of snowfall on the mountains is clearly seen in Punjab-Chandigarh. Now, the winds are blowing from the hills towards the plains at a speed of 11 kmph. Due to this, the temperature has been falling continuously for the last few days and the weather has become colder.

At the same time, the minimum temperature in Punjab is between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Centre is observing the effect of cold wave in Punjab.

Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Roopnagar, Patiala and Asgar have got a yellow alert indicating cold waves till 15th December.

There is a western disturbance in the northern part of Pakistan. Due to this, there is continuous snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. But it is not witnessed in the plains. According to the weather department, there is no possibility of rain in Punjab for the next one week. Due to this, the weather is expected to remain dry in Punjab and Chandigarh.
