Cold wave alert in Punjab and Chandigarh: temperatures to drop 3°C, visibility to hit zero

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the effect of fog and cold wave may continue till January 3 and in these 5 days, the temperature of Punjab may drop by 3 degrees.

An orange alert has been issued for fog and cold wave in the state due to the cyclone circulation today. Due to this, visibility is expected to reach zero. Additionally, snowfall continues in the mountains. Due to which, the effect of cold will also be seen in Punjab and Chandigarh. 

According to the Meteorological Centre, a yellow alert has been issued for fog in Chandigarh. An orange alert has been issued for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala and Mansa in Punjab. Apart from fog, a cold wave warning has also been issued here. Meanwhile, a yellow alert of fog and cold wave has been issued in the rest of Punjab.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that the effect of fog and cold wave may continue till January 3. In these 5 days, the temperature of Punjab may drop by 3 degrees. While the temperature of Chandigarh will not change much.

According to the Meteorological Centre, rain will be witnessed in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana in the last days of December. Two new western disturbances are going to be active between January 1 and 6. The effect of which will be seen in the western Himalayan Mountain range. After which, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh as well as the plains areas are likely to receive rain. After which, the temperature is expected to fall once again in Punjab-Chandigarh.
