Controversial YouTuber Dhruv Rathee on Monday night responded to the Samay Raina-Ranveer Allahbadia controversy and social media outrage. Samay Raina's India's Got Latent has come under the scrutiny of both social media and the Police. The controversy erupted after the latest episode of India's Got Latent was dropped on Samay Raina's YouTube channel for the 'members-only' viewers. Meaning, those who have paid to watch India's Got Latent on YouTube. While many clips went viral on social media, it was Ranveer Allahbadia's incest joke on mother-father that sparked massive outrage and even Police complaints.
Although Ranveer Allahbadia issued an apology and his segment was removed from India's Got Latent Episode, the issue had already become massive. Now, Dhruv Rathee has reacted to the entire controversy. (Dhruv Rathee Reaction India's Got Latent) The YouTuber took to his X handle and compared Samay Raina's show to Ranbir Kapoor starrer movie Animal which Sandeep Reddy Vanga made. (What did Dhruv Rathee Say on India's Got Latent) The YouTuber also stated that banning such shows will not solve any problems. Below is what Rathee wrote-
"I’ve always been strongly against abusive and vulgar language. In the 1000+ videos, shorts and reels that I have made, you won’t find a single abusive word for anyone. What is being done today in the name of dank comedy is pure nonsense. The only purpose is to shock and disgust audiences for views, which is having a disastrous impact on the moral development of our youth. However, calling for any govt bans for this is not the solution as it may usher in a harsh censorship regime. Instead, we need to pressurize content creators to make better content. Shows like India’s Got Latent have the same impact on moral decay of society as films like Animal and they need to be called out for it in strong words."
For the unversed, when Animal was released in theaters, a section of people slammed Sandeep Vanga and Ranbir Kapoor for showcasing violence and filling the movie with misogynistic content.
Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia to be arrested soon?
After a complaint by two lawyers was filed to Mumbai Police Commissioner, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Guwahati Police have also registered an FIR against certain YouTubers and social media influencers.
Assam CM wrote, "Today @GuwahatiPol has registered an FIR against against certain Youtubers and social Influencers, namely
1. Shri Ashish Chanchlani
2. Shri Jaspreet Singh
3. Shri Apoorva Makhija
4. Shri Ranveer Allahbadia
5. Shri Samay Raina and others
for promoting obscenity and engaging in sexually explicit and vulgar discussion in a show titled ' India's Got Latent'
Guwahati Crime Branch has registered a case vide Cyber PS case no 03/2025 under sections - 79/95/294/296 of BNS 2023 read witb Sec 67 of IT Act, 2000, read with Section 4/7 of Cinematograph Act 1952 read with Section 4/6 of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 .
Investigation is currently underway."
It is pertinent to mention here that a Mumbai Police team on Monday reached the studio in the Khar area where the YouTube show India's Got Latent was shot.
