Under his Dil-Lumunati India Tour 2024, Diljit grabbed headlines for both positive and negative reasons. While Diljit was accused of glorifying alcohol through his songs, the singer challenged the administration in multiple states to declare India a dry state and he will stop singing such songs.

Diljit shared a funny anecdote related to his childhood in an interview. He tried to run away from home at the age of 8. Diljit had said, "During school time, I liked a girl and because of my friends, I told her that you and I will get married. That girl complained to the teacher. After which the teacher asked me to bring my parents. I thought the world was over now, so I tried to run away from home. At that time I was 8 years old."
Many reports claim that Diljit is married to Sandeep Kaur and they also have a son. However, both of them got divorced in the year 2017. However, Diljit often hesitates to talk about his personal life, relationships, and affairs.
When singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh was 11 years old, he was sent to his maternal uncle's house in Ludhiana. Diljit did not want to go to the city with his uncle. He wanted to stay with his parents in the village, but no one asked him if he wanted to go to Ludhiana or not, they just sent him. Diljit could not study much. He studied till 10th standard while living in Ludhiana. Due to the poor financial condition of the family, he could not study further. He often used to listen to Kirtan in Gurudwara. So, when he could not see a way forward, he chose singing as his career. He took training in classical music in Ludhiana's Gurudwara and started doing Kirtan.
Everyone liked Diljit's voice while doing Kirtan, so people encouraged him to sing outside. After this, Diljit came out of the Gurudwara and started singing at weddings and ceremonies. This is how Diljit Dosanjh became a singer in Punjabi music industry.
