On Tuesday, 10th September, a Presidential debate was held between Former president Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. This 90-minute-long debate was hosted by ABC news channel. During the intense debate, Donald Trump called Biden and Harris “the worst president, the worst vice president in the history of our country.”
Kamala Harris said, “And I do believe that the American people know we all have so much more in common than what separates us, and we can chart a new way forward.” Majority of the public who watched the Presidential debate said that Harris performed better in the debate.
Harris’s debate has lifted the spirits of the Democratic Party after a fumbling and confusing performance given by Joe Biden in June.
In reference to the debate, Chris Christie, former New Jersey Governor and ABC's political commentator said, “Whoever did the debate preparation for Donald Trump should be fired! Trump better get to work, or he's going to lose this election.” Meanwhile political analyst Brit Hume said, “Make no mistake, Trump had a bad night. We heard so many of his old grievances. This was Kamala Harris’ night.”
The impact of this Presidential debate will be seen in the US Polls as it has shaped voter’s perceptions and has influenced their thoughts.
Just after the debate, Taylor Swift said that she has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for president on Instagram. She wrote “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do and the choice is yours to make,” she further added.
However, according to the surveys, Trump and Harris are tied nationwide and it is extremely tough to determine the winner of the US presidential elections, as of now.
