Punjab has been boiling over Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's upcoming movie Emergency for alleged wrongful portrayal of Sikhs in the movie. Now, a ban on release in Punjab has been looming over Emergency. On Thursday, Sikh organizations protested against Bollywood's upcoming film Emergency at PVR located in MBD Mall, Jalandhar. Kangana Ranaut has played the role of Indira Gandhi in this film. It is alleged that wrong comments have been made about the Sikh community in the film. Sikh organizations have objections to this.

During the protest, Sikh organizations reportedly said that a case will also be registered against Kangana Ranaut in Jalandhar regarding the film. Giving information, Sikh Coordination Committee official Harpal Singh Chadha reportedly said that the image of Sikhs has been presented in a wrong way in this film. This film is anti-Sikh. Kangana Ranaut, who plays the role of Indira Gandhi in this film, has made statements against the Sikh community many times before.

The Sikh community clearly announced that this film will not be allowed to be screened in any theater across Punjab. Harpal Chadha clarified that an application will be moved to register a case against Kangana Ranaut in Jalandhar regarding this film. In this case, ACP Special Branch Barjinder Singh reportedly said that the administration has already ordered not to release this film in Jalandhar. After talking to the officials of PVR Mall, it has already been decided that this film should not be screened here.

Kangana's upcoming movie's trailer has reportedly showcased a character on Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, who is seen as a saint by radical Sikhs. 

Before this, Faridkot MP Sarbjit Singh Khalsa objected to the scenes shown in the Emergency trailer. As per reports, Sarabjit wrote a letter to the Centre asking to halt the release of the movie. Sarabjit reportedly said that Sikhs have been portrayed in a wrong way in it. "There are reports of misrepresentation of Sikhs in the new film 'Emergency', due to which there is a possibility of deteriorating peace and law and order situation in the society. If Sikhs are shown as separatists or terrorists in this film, then it is a deep conspiracy," said Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa adding that this film is a psychological attack, to which the government should pay attention in advance and stop inciting hatred towards Sikhs in other countries.'

For the unversed, Sarbjit Singh Khalsa is the son of Beant Singh. Beant Singh was involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Kangana Ranaut's upcoming movie Emergency will be released in theaters on September 6, 2024.
