BJP's Mandi MP & Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is all set to make her return to the big screens with the movie Emergency. Emergency's trailer was released on August 14, 2024. Based on the times when then PM Indira Gandhi imposed an Emergency and snapped every fundamental right of Indians in 1975, Kangana Ranaut's upcoming movie sparked another controversy. Faridkot MP Sarabjot Singh Khalsa has written a letter to the Centre demanding to halt the release of Kangana Ranaut's upcoming movie Emergency.
Sarbjit Singh Khalsa has objected to the scenes shown in the trailer. As per reports, Sarabjit has said that Sikhs have been portrayed in a wrong way in it. "There are reports of misrepresentation of Sikhs in the new film 'Emergency', due to which there is a possibility of deteriorating peace and law and order situation in the society. If Sikhs are shown as separatists or terrorists in this film, then it is a deep conspiracy," said Faridkot MP Sarabjit Singh Khalsa adding that this film is a psychological attack, to which the government should pay attention in advance and stop inciting hatred towards Sikhs in other countries.'
For the unversed, Sarbjit Singh Khalsa is the son of Beant Singh. Beant Singh was involved in the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. A few parts of Emergency's trailer showcase the militancy period in Punjab and the rise in demand for Khalistan. MP Sarbjit Khalsa has said that news of hate crimes against Sikhs in the country often comes to the fore. In such a situation, this film will work to spread more hatred towards Sikhs. Sikhs have made huge sacrifices for this country, which have not been fully revealed through films, but every possible effort is being made to defame Sikhs.
Kangana's upcoming movie's trailer has reportedly showcased a character on Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, who is seen as a saint by radical Sikhs.
