Recently, a customer at L’Opéra’s Khan Market outlet in Delhi shared a disturbing post on the social media. The customer had ordered an iced latte and a salted caramel coffee, but unfortunately the customer found a dead cockroach floating in her drink after she settled in the car.
Earlier, the customer mistook it as a coffee bean but after sometime the customer found out that it was a dead cockroach. The customers went back to confront the staffs of the café.
In a post on Reddit, the user shared her experience and said, “I visited L'Opéra today in Khan Market and ordered an iced latte to go. When I opened the drink, I thought I saw a coffee bean floating around, but when I flipped it over, it was a freaking COCKROACH. I'm seriously questioning how clean this place is now. What made it worse was how the staff handled it—they were so nonchalant and just kept saying sorry like robots, no real concern at all. If hygiene is this bad at such a well-known cafe, I can’t even imagine what it’s like at other places in India.”
Although the staffs apologized, the customer felt that they were not genuinely sorry. The customer shared the incident on reddit and wrote, “I’m seriously questioning how clean this place is now. They were so nonchalant and just kept saying sorry like robots, no real concern at all.”
“Anyone else had similar issues here or at other cafes? This was such a let-down,” she further added.
This incident shook the users. One of the users commented, “This is absolutely unacceptable for any establishment, let alone one that’s reputed.” Another said, “That’s what happen when anybody gets licences, no surprise inspection or any sort of inspection, food industry is joke in India.”
“Food safety protocols need to be revisited at this place,” a user wrote. One of the users suggested to share this incident on X. The user wrote, “There are no food standards in India, even when you pay such a high price for a drink. Post it on X and tag their account.”
