The Jalandhar police commissionerate filed a case against an NRI. The NRI allegedly acquired an immigration license from the administration through fraudulent means. The suspect, identified as Anmoldeep Singh, is a Canadian citizen. Anmoldeep Singh is originally from Vivekanand Park in the Maqsudan area. Anmoldeep Singh operates his travel consultancy in the AGI Building.

The case has been registered under sections 13(1) and 16 of the Punjab Travel Professions Regulations Act and Section 177 of the BNS at the Navi Baradari police station.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), Singh operates an immigration consultancy named Canadian Immigration Consultant located at the AGI Business Centre here on Garha Road. The FIR states that Singh secured the government-issued license by presenting false information, a claim that was substantiated during the administration's investigation.

The investigation was prompted by a complaint submitted to the Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner. The complaint alleges that Singh secured his immigration license by providing false information. Anmoldeep Singh’s consultancy, operating under the name Canadian Immigration Consultant in the AGI Building on Garha Road, is accused of deceiving authorities to obtain the license. Following a detailed inquiry and legal review, the police have filed the case and are continuing their investigation.

According to sources, the investigation was initiated after a formal complaint was lodged with the Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) demanding an inquiry into the legitimacy of Anmoldeep Singh's immigration license and its subsequent cancellation.

The complaint, which was originally filed in April last year, prompted the administration to investigate the matter.

Upon confirming the allegations, legal advice was sought from the District Attorney (DA), Legal. A report was subsequently prepared and submitted to the police, leading to the immediate registration of the case against Singh.

"The FIR was registered on Friday after we received a report from the district administration in this regard. Further investigation into the case is underway. Efforts are on to locate the suspect," said Kamaljeet Singh, SHO, Navi Baradari police station.
