Jalandhar Truck Accident, 13-year-old boy dies on the spot

A 13-year-old boy along with his two friends riding on Activa got hit by a truck on Monday, 26th August in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar road, Jalandhar. The 13-year-old child died on the spot.

Avi Malhotra, a 13-year-old boy riding Activa got hit and crushed by a truck on 26th August near Sanjay Gandhi Nagar road. Avi was along with his two other friends. Both of them got injured. Unfortunately, Avi lost his life on the spot in the accident. 

The accident took place when the truck driver suddenly stoped the truck. Children riding the Activa scooter were right behind the truck, when the truck suddenly stopped, Avi lost the balance and fell on the road, he got crushed by the wheels of the truck and passed away on the spot. The truck driver left the truck and escaped from the accident spot. Avi Malhotra was the resident of Bhagat Singh Colony. He was the only child in his family. 

The 13-year-old went to visit his neighbors and to deliver the food to them. But while returning back from his neighbor’s house, he got hit and crushed by the truck. Punjab police reached at the accident spot and sent his dead body for postmortem. His family members broke down and heavily wept after reaching the accident spot. His cousin sister, with whom he celebrated Raksha Bandhan just few days back never though that she will lose her younger brother so soon. This accident has shaken the family of the 13-year-old. They are unable to come out of the trauma of their child’s death.

According to India's latest Road Accidents report, India witnesses 1,264 road accidents and 462 deaths every day that is 53 crashes and 19 deaths every hour. Every year India loses 1.5 million lives in road crashes. India has witnessed over 460,000 road accidents in 2022. Out of which, hit-and-run accidents accounted for over 67,000. These data of road accidents in India are really terrifying and it is high time to control and prevent these accidents by strictly following the driving rules.
