Railways has cancelled a total of 20 trains between February and March. According to the notification issued by the Railways, these trains has been cancelled due to dense fog.
After the cancellation of these trains, the waiting list has also been affected. People are getting into sleeper coaches and general coaches with physical tickets. The railway has also appealed the passengers that if they are getting physical tickets, then they should carry it with them, otherwise they will have to pay a fine and the full ticket fare as well.
One of the passengers from Jalandhar had got physical tickets for him and his family. But unfortunately, when he left home to catch the train, he forgot to get the ticket from his sister's house. He then asked for a photo of the ticket on his phone so that no one would trouble him on the way.
When he reached near Phagwara, the TTE asked him for the ticket, so he showed the ticket on the phone. But the TTE took the full amount. Her brother also showed his Aadhar card. He then paid Rs 1120 again for Jalandhar to Lucknow. At the same time, the railway official said that according to the railway rule, if someone has booked a ticket online then it can be checked on the phone, but if someone has booked the ticket from the ticket counter and the physical ticket is not with the passenger or is lost then the full amount is charged.
Another passenger named Ramnath, sitting at the city railway station, said that he had to go home with his family, but the train got cancelled due to which he will have to take a taxi. He said that he has a lot of luggage because of which he chose the option of taxi instead of going by bus.
