CP Jalandhar conducts surprise inspection to boost policing efficiency & transparency

CP Jalandhar visits Police Station Division No.1 and Sadar Jalandhar aimed to address key issues and ensure responsive policing in the area while reinforcing the commitment to uphold law and order. During the inspection, Mr. Swapan Sharma IPS, assessed the operational aspects of the police stations and emphasized the importance of improving systems and processes for better service to the public.

CP Jalandhar emphasized the need to expedite the resolution of pending investigations and instructed SHOs and Investigating Officers to fast-track the investigation process for various FIRs. He underscored that prompt and thorough investigations are crucial to maintaining law and order, and to build public trust in the police force.

He directed SHOs to quickly file cancellation and untraced reports for FIRs that were not yielding results. To ensure proper documentation and closure, allowing for better management of the caseload and enabling resources to be allocated more effectively.

The Commissioner highlighted the importance of handling seized vehicles in various cases and instructed that they be disposed of in accordance with legal procedures. Efficient disposal of such vehicles will not only free up space but also ensure transparency and adherence to the law.

The visit also stressed the promotion of emergency helplines, particularly 112 and 1091 for women. Mr. Sharma directed the police station staff to focus on raising awareness about these helplines, ensuring that citizens, especially women, are aware of the resources available to them for immediate assistance. Dedicated staff will be assigned to provide real-time updates and ensure responsive communication.

Another key point raised by Mr. Sharma was the need to strengthen Police-Public relationship. He directed to police staff of the police stations to build relationships and establishing a more collaborative approach to addressing public concerns. This will foster a stronger bond of trust between the police and the citizens.

CP Jalandhar emphasized the importance of improving the infrastructure and facilities available to police personnel at the police stations. He instructed that the staff's working conditions be assessed and that any required improvements be made to ensure that officers are equipped to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently.

During the visit, the Commissioner reviewed the effectiveness of current crime prevention strategies in the area. He urged the police officers to continuously assess crime trends and adapt their strategies accordingly. The focus would be on reducing the rate of petty crimes and ensuring that preventative measures are in place to safeguard the community.

He instructed the police stations to implement stronger internal monitoring systems to track the progress of investigations, the handling of complaints, and the overall performance of the staff. This will not only improve accountability but also ensure that police officers maintain high standards of professionalism and service.
