Punjab is currently witnessing peak winters as multiple districts of the state are already on cold wave alert. However, winters are slated to intensified more in the first week of January 2025 i.e. the New Year. Jalandhar and Ludhiana are expected to witness rainfall for one day in January 205 first week.
As per Apple Weather App, there are 50 percent chances of rainfall in Jalandhar and 45 percent chances of winter showers in Ludhiana. Both Jalandhar and Ludhiana may witness rainfall on Monday i.e. on January 6, 2025. The temperature in the first week of Jalandhar will remain in single digits except for Sunday and Monday. A similar forecast is for Ludhiana.

As reported on December 30; a yellow alert has been issued for fog in Chandigarh by the IMD. An orange alert has been issued for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala and Mansa in Punjab. Apart from fog, a cold wave warning has also been issued. Meanwhile, a yellow alert of fog and cold wave has been issued in the rest of Punjab.
The Meteorological Department has predicted that the effect of fog and cold wave may continue till January 3. In these 5 days, the temperature of Punjab may drop by 3 degrees. While the temperature of Chandigarh will not change much.
