In a major development, Jalandhar Mayor Vaneet Dhir on Saturday announced multi-storey parking projects in the city. Last month, Vaneet Dhir presented Jalandhar's first budget as a Mayor that was passed within 3 minutes. The Jalandhar Municipal Corporation approved the budget for 2025-26 at Rs 531 crore. This budget was proposed to fund various development projects, with Rs 174.34 crore specifically earmarked for development and the rest for salaries and machinery expenses.
Traffic congestion which is one of the key issues of Jalandhar, is now being addressed seriously after Vaneet Dhir has been elected as the Mayor. As per reports, multi-storey parking facilities will be constructed at five key locations across Jalandhar. The Municipal Corporation also released an official letter confirming the development.
According to the statement, these multi-level parking structures will be built on existing Municipal Corporation zonal office premises, with the top floors of the buildings continuing to function as office space.
Where will multi-storey parking be made in Jalandhar?
Mayor Dhir revealed that the new parking projects will be set up at Model Town, Veer Babreek Chowk, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Madan Floor Mill Chowk, and the Lal Rattan Zone. He emphasized that these facilities will provide much-needed space for vehicle parking, significantly reducing traffic congestion in busy parts of the city.
