An athlete from Jalandhar has died due to sudden cardiac arrest at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana, he was a participant of Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan.

In a tragic incident, on Monday, a 54-year-old athlete named Varinder Singh died of a heart attack at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana. He belonged to Jalandhar. He had participated in Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan Season 3. He collapsed while speaking on the phone. He suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and fell down. All the nearby athletes rushed to help him, but unfortunately, he had passed away by the time assistance arrived.

Varinder Singh was an active athlete and had competed last year as well. His coach, Bikramjit Singh, has shared that Varinder had completed his competition by 3 pm and was watching others when he suddenly collapsed at 5:30 pm. A medical team present on-site quickly took him to the hospital, but unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.

Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan is a multi-sport event that includes athletics, baseball, kickboxing, and lawn tennis. It had started on Monday across five districts and will get concluded by 9th November. In this multi-sport event, competitions are held at various venues including Guru Nanak Stadium, Multipurpose Hall, Government Girls School Gill and Harvest Lawn Tennis Academy in Jassowal.

The deceased athlete had a wife, a son, and a daughter. His son is an engineer in Jalandhar, and his daughter is studying medicine abroad. His family has taken his body back to Jalandhar for performing his last rites.
