Why Kangana Ranaut's movie release was halted?
Kangana's movie Emergency is based on the true story revolving around the former Prime Minister of India- Indira Gandhi. It mostly talks about the ill effects of the Emergency that was imposed by Indira Gandhi during her time. However, the mention of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale as a terrorist and Khalistan sparked a major uproar both on social media as well as on the ground. Kangana had alleged that CBFC officials got death threats and hence they withdrew the movie's censor board. The Censor Board on the other hand informed the Court that many scenes in the movie were objectionable which may hurt religious sentiments.
Nevertheless, with the Emergency cleared by the censor board, Kangana Ranaut is expected to announce the Emergency New Release Date soon. Earlier, it was slated to be released in July 2024.
