Kartik Aaryan in a podcast with Raj Shamani said, "I left my exam of college to give the audition. I had very limited connections because I did not know when and where the auditions took place. So, I used to attend the audition directly. I used to search for actors required with keywords like 'actors required'. I found out about Pyaar Ka Punchnama on Facebook only. I used to write weird stuff in emails. For Pyaar Ka Punchnama, I wrote, 'I am the guy you are looking for'. They loved the reply and called me for the audition."
"It went on for 6 months. But, they rejected me and did not even inform me. I called them again and requested to give them the photo they took during the auditions. I have a habit of taking follow-ups. In Pyaar Ka Punchnama's case, it worked for me. I was called back again. I was rejected, and then again I was called. Then again they said that I have to give another audition next week. It again took 6 months. Then, finally, they gave me a monologue. I got that one day before. It was a total of 4 and a half pages. They said if I am able to pull it off then I will be confirmed in the movie. I kept memorising it the entire night. The next day, I cracked it."

Kartik further revealed his fee for Pyaar ka Punchnama. The 34-year-old actor said, "I did not get Rs 1 crore for Pyaar Ka Punchnama. I got Rs 70,000. It's all spontaneous, and it's your choice, which helps you move up the ranks." He further said, "Even 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' did not earn that much. I started earning money only after 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety'..."
