Renovation work at Punjab’s Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station has led to significant disruptions in train services. The station is undergoing a major overhaul, with a 200-meter-long roof being constructed, requiring the installation of large iron girders. As a result, the Northern Railways has issued an order suspending several prominent train routes, including the Swarna Shatabdi Express and Shan-e-Punjab, from stopping at Jalandhar.

To facilitate construction, power lines passing through the station area have been shut down, necessitating the closure of this section of the railway. On Monday, the New Delhi-Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express (12029-30), Shatabdi Express (12031-32), and Shan-e-Punjab Express (12497-98) were unable to reach Jalandhar.

Train Diversions in Effect Until October 9

According to official sources, these changes will remain in place until October 9. During this period, the Swarna Shatabdi Express will terminate at Phagwara, and Shan-e-Punjab will only operate up to Ludhiana. Trains such as the Amritsar-Kanpur Express (22445-46) and Central Darbhanga-Jalandhar City Express (22551-52) will only be allowed to run up to Ambala Cantt station, with the Kanpur train operating until October 7 and the Darbhanga Express until October 5.

Additional trains, including the Amritsar-Nangal Dam (14505-06), Ludhiana Chehan Special (04591-92), Jalandhar City-Nakodar (06972-71), and Lohian Khas-Ludhiana (04630, 06983), have also been canceled until October 9. Furthermore, the New Delhi-Lohian Khas train will be diverted via the Nakodar route, affecting services to stations like Jalandhar, Lohian Khas, Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, and others. Several long-distance trains, including the Dr. Ambedkar Nagar-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express, and services from Jamnagar, Gandhidham, and Kanyakumari, will also experience route changes during this period.
